It's my Birthday!!

Well what do you know? Today IS my birthday!! I am officially 26. This past year was an amazing year for me and I only hope the next year proves to be just as great. I've learned so much about myself. Today is going to be an awesome day!! But more on that later this week :)

Little Goodies

Yesterday was insane day. I couldn't get to any blogs so I apologize for my absensce [for those that even noticed]. I am so glad today is here and I can just forget about yesterday. Today is my last day of work before my three day weekend than it's birthday weekend for me! Whoo! I've been splurging myself recently on lots of new little goodies for myself ;)

Ain't no party like a chi-town party

Our second day in Chicago, after all that walking around in the city... we decided to go straight to dinner and drinking. We ended up at Rock it Bar & Grill at River North and it was the shit. Chicago knows how to party!! It was bumping!! We had a good time... I would have had a better time if I was in my cute bar outfit lol but it is what it is!

Craving - Winter Coats!

Yikes... daylight savings. Night time comes too early now (what?? dark at 4:30pm??) and it gets colder a lot earlier in the day. Every year I find myself looking for a new coat and this year is no different! I'm not into jackets or parkas but more a big, warm, wooly coat! I get very cold, very quickly so I need something serious. And everyone has something to offer right now. Especially in bright pops of color which is exactly what is up my alley :)

Chicago's Shedd Aquarium

Our second day in Chicago we visited the Shedd Aquarium. It's a gorgeous Aquarium and though we only got general tickets that took us through the top level, that alone took a pretty good amount of time. But man, was that a walk!

We waited on this long ass line... but once inside, it was pretty crazy! lol Jose took a ton of pictures of the fish... and this creepy ass eel looking at the camera. uck!

We were exhausted from all the walking we did all day and it was close to dusk so we decided to hop on a water taxi back to Navy Pier. But not before I snapped a picture of Jose next to the man with the fish :)

Now Shining: Jess from StyleSays

I was honored to recently have been contacted by Jess, founder of StyleSays. StyleSays is a website that allows people to create wish lists, share them with their friends & receive sale alerts when the prices drop on the items in their wishlists. It's a great way to virtually shop with your girlfriends! I interviewed Jess to learn more about StyleSays and share with you lovely ladies, my readers! :)

1. What makes StyleSays different from other shopping networks?

Many other shopping networks start by building a shopping site and then throw on some special features (twitter, facebook, etc.). We did the opposite. We started by building a site specifically for real-life friends to shop together. This means we want you to have a much more intimate shopping experience with one or two friends that will help you pick out items you will really like. Other sites will have you broadcast your favorite items to large anonymous audiences. I rarely see anyone walk out of a dressing room with a dress on and ask everyone in the store what they think. Same goes for online, we don't send a couple different pairs of shoes to a hundred people. We send them to a couple close friends, because we trust and value their opinions. After all our friends might even know our style better than we do.

2. How do you describe your personal style?

My personal style definitely reflects my demeanor. I'm pretty monotone, but I throw in quick one-liners that you have to be listening for to catch. I like to wear comfortable, non-descript outfits with hints that say I might actually know what I'm doing. To be fair I do enjoy splashes of color, as you can see on my profile. Who doesn't love a little attention?

3. What advice would you give others starting a business?

Today is the best day to start a company. Tomorrow you'll probably be too busy, so start doing anything and everything to make it happen.

4. Where are your favorite stores to shop?

My favorite online stores are ASOS (free shipping+returns!) and TopShop. If I'm going to make it to a store it's usually for jeans at Levi's in SF or shoes at John Varvatos.

5. What is your favorite fashion indulgence?

Shoes have always been big for me. Sometimes you can lose sigh of the price tag and things get dangerous. Also I'm pretty bad at saying no.

Craving - Sequins

I love November mostly because the holiday inspired clothing is in stores and you know that includes nothing but sequins. Theres something about sequins that screams "wear me at christmas parties" and especially "this is perfect for New Years Eve". I wear sequins all year long but stock up on my sequins during this time of the year. Pumpkin Carving Night

Wait a minute... F the pumpkins for a second. Do we know what month it is?? That's right, it's my birthday month! Rewind to a favorite picture of mine just to highlight as awesome this month is.

This month is the shit! Not just cos it's the month I was born but it celebrates like my second favorite day ever... Thanksgiving! Holla, comfort food day!! But fuck that, my birthday comes first! It's on Sunday this year which means weekend long celebrating bitches. I'm gonna be 26 though so lets not go crazy, I'm not celebrating getting older lol just ME! 

So onto our pumpkins...

Friday night before our party [before the snow] we got together with my brother-in-law & sister-in-law to carve pumpkins. It was their first time carving pumpkins and they were pros at that shit.
