Goodbye Apartment: Our Office & Movie Collection

This is the room I by far spend the most time in. Definately not my favorite though lol it's freezing in the winter, boiling hot in the summer and feels so far from the living room. I have big plans for our "office" at my moms :)

And I just want to throw in a little added bonus. This is a really awkward little space upstairs outside of our bedroom. The minute we saw it though, we knew exactly what we were doing with it. 

We moved in in November of 2008 and in January 2009 we bought this huge bookshelf, put it together and voila! A space for our massive movie collection!

We even needed a second one [to the right] and that holds all our TV Show dvds :) We are still undecided whether or not this will be coming to my moms. But I'm pretty sure it wont. 

Office Plans

I love photo walls. In fact we kind of have one as a work in progress in the living room - but I am not satisfied! I need another one with a little bit more of a casual flow, random things on the wall as opposed to the just photo wall we have in the living room. Such as the wall below :)

So I have major plans to do this in the office - the place I probably I spend the most time in and will be spending alot more time in in the coming months [more on that when I have more information] Soo I have rearranged our office for other purposes and in the process found I can do my photo collage on 1 of 2 walls... the bigger wall where there is something on it now but would promptly be moved if needed!

Or the smaller wall? I'm thinking the bulletin board and ottoman should go against the smaller wall since they fit better there and than I'll get a nicer chair to put under the photo wall. Ayyy help! Am I seeing things??

OOh and let me catch a picture of our disgusting ottoman [due to Riddle's crazy puppy days] and the before since once we get back from the trip, my mom and I are reupholstering this baby!

Yuck! So what would you do if this was your office? Which wall would your photos collect on? Is it stupid to even do this in this room? Any other suggestions? I'm open! Gimme whatcha got!!

Who Know's Where the Time Goes?

Oops... I've been busy and have not written in a while but I do have a bunch to share - including my tiny sprouts of fall decor in my house as well as some lovely additions to my fancy schmancy new office!

And seriously... Who Know's Where the Time Goes?? I mean I blink and it is suddenly 50 degrees every night the past couple days! It is seriously feeling like fall here in Jersey. But I love it since it's my favorite season! Anywhoo... A Bit of Fall Decor to make you all warm and tingly inside :)

And these adorable little pumpkin container which I have seen in at least 4 different stores this year - but I snagged mine at CVS because I get my employee discount!



And here is what is going on in my office... a very tiny bright little green picture frame [I'm waiting for the perfect picture of my cat and dog together to fill it]

And the frame next to the green and white lamp. Frame... 4.99 from Home Goods! Yuuup!

As well as 10.99 each Nautica pillows from Home Goods. Home Goods is the best!

That's pretty much it! It certainly gave me a warm and tingly feeling all over again!

The Office Transformation: The Big Reveal!

With only tiny little details left [like cork boards on the wall and pillows] I decided it is time to debut my new office! I'm telling you sitting in this room just makes me happy. It's totally different than our dark and dingy Before Office.

Also a correction.. the color is said the new wall color is was Summer Splash by Olympic but it is in fact South Pacific. And a beautiful color I must say!

Here is what you see when you walk in the room:

A close up of our desk and our new shaggy cream rug [20 bucks clearance from Target] Obviously this is Riddles favorite place to snuggle up.

We have this ottoman as seating [will put some accent pillows on it soon]... But honestly, you think it goes?? Let me know!

Our bookshelf in the right corner. The top shelf for now holds Jose's met's memorabilia and the first two shelves hold my collection of snowglobes. :)


We fell in LOVE with this lamp from Home Goods and had to have it! We thought the green lamp shade and the white base went perfect. The green looks great next to the blue on our walls.

And Hitchcock is in this room ten times more than he was before :) He just loves our new sheer curtains 10 bucks from Target!

I put our books on our bookshelves but really hated it. So I stood in the room thinking and thinking than decided to put them on top of our desk... but than color coordinated it. AND seperated each color by section AND start each section on the left and right with the tallest books first. Now I love the zig zag effect these books have.

Also we have a BUNCH of markers and colored pencils and really, no where to put them. And I am always doodling and drawing so I bought this set of 4 cups for 1.99 at CVS! :) Who'd thunk!? Also seperated these all by colors as well [pinks and reds together, oranges and yellows, blues green and purples and than blacks, browns and grays]

And I have had my eye on these magnetic containers from the container store for a year or so and FINALLY found a reason and place to get them! Now it holds our rubber bands, usb cords, pins, etc :) And the mugs on the shelves are to hold our litle knick knacks.. I have the cowgirl mug, Jose has the starbucks. But I really want C and J mugs :)

And lastly, the other bookshelf on the left wall across from the desk. The bottom shelf holds ALL my scrap books [yes I scrapbook :)] and my INSTYLE magazines. Than boxes and other goodies :)

And that's it! FINALLY! All we need is some stuff on the walls and some pillows on the ottoman [or just a different type of seating] and this room is done! YaY! We have loved doing our office over and are really so in love with the final product :)

The Office Transformation: The New Wall Color!

As I said before, We have been fixing up our office room :) And now I'll show you the BEFORE color and the AFTER color.

Here is the before color:

Here is Jose putting paste on the walls to cover up the holes that the nails made when the huge mirror was on that wall [yup it took up that WHOLE white part of the wall]. And it was there when we moved in, we did NOT put that up!

We of course had to prime the walls first and Jose had some fun with that:

And now the bright and cheery after! Along with the desk moved from the front corner to the back corner. The color is Summer Splash from Olympic.


By the way, we used Olympic's Environmentally Friendly Paint and I loved it! It didn't have even HALF as strong an odor as normal paint does and it took really well, only 2 coats of paint! I seriously recommend it. We also used their Environmentally friendly primer and it was great too!

There it is! The lovely new office color. Doesn't it look better all ready? More AFTER pictures soon! :)

The Office Transformation: The Before

We have been very busy the past two days doing our office room over and I am SO happy with the way it is turning out. But it's not done yet! So I thought I'd put on some pictures of the gloomy, ugly, messy before to show you what we were dealing with and why this HAD to be fixed! I'm not proud of these pictures but I can't wait to post the afters :)

Here is the treadmill we had [which we sold yesterday for 100 bucks! We bought it for 400! A STEAL!] It was on the left hand side of the room when you walked in [with a poster hanging on the wall from a concert Jose's band played at]. And Jose always threw his clothes on it! Grr...

That big white hole on that wall in the picture above actually had a mirror on it but we removed the mirror, and here is the mirror waiting patiently to be put outside

And this is a very dark picture but next to our desk sat Jose's 3 guitar cases [one of them was empty!] We now found a proper place for the guitars :) Upstairs on display next to our big dvd rack

And our VERY messy computer desk... thats going to be my project tomorrow :)


Again a very dark [and blurry] picture but this little box sitting in the right far corner is our broken guitar hero drums. What a waste! 7 plays was the most we got out of it! And they will not return Jose's emails so we haven't gotten a new one :(


And our lovely one curtain... count em, one! I don't know lol don't ask!

And last but not least under that window, behind the treadmill, was where I stuffed my exercise equipment. Now I use these things more than that treadmill so now they are tucked away in the bedroom closet and when I need em, I just pull them out!
